COP28 Core Nature Day Event

From Agreement to Action: Harnessing 30x30 to Tackle Climate Change

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – A high-level event expected to announce a number of transformational actions related to the ‘30x30’ goal and nature action for climate is being held on Nature Day (December 9th) at the UNFCCC COP28 in Dubai, UAE. The event will also be live-streamed on the UNFCCC virtual platform and the HAC for Nature and People website. Delegates and media are invited to attend.

Convened by the COP28 Presidency, The High Ambition Coalition for Nature, Campaign for Nature, and the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions, Heads of State and Government, Ministers, Indigenous Peoples representatives, and leaders from across the business and civil society are expected to announce domestic and international actions to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. The focus will be on resource mobilization from all sources, repurposing current harmful incentives such as subsidies, conserving and protecting 30% of the planet’s land and 30% of the planet’s ocean by 2030, and specifically what this means for global efforts to halt climate change.

Without urgent and demonstrable momentum on both financing and implementation on the ground, it will be impossible to tackle the world’s accelerating nature crisis, in support of climate action.
